Lucky 7 Motorcycles

Steve Adams of Lucky 7 is something of an enigma.

His modifying style for modern classic motorcycles has hit a large vein  of interest with the motorcycling media, and yet in spite of regular appearances in almost all of the mainstream magazines he’s least interested of all in being “popular”. This may not make him unique, but it is rather refreshing. The thing that bothers him most, isn’t him, or what we think of him – it’s making a bike that he thinks is right.

When he gets it right, the results are stunning.

So, Steve inspired this Katana build of mine, and at the points we haven’t fallen out during the build (never badly), he’s also been my go-to man for support, inspiration, sympathy and occasionally even the odd compliment.

The frame modifications were 100% stewarded through by his good hand,  and he’s the source of several key parts too – oil filter cover, GSX1100 engine to GSX750 Frame adapter plates, the seat recovering and the beautiful aluminium undertrays that hide all the electrics and leave the trademark Lucky7 clean space between the engine and the back wheel. If you’re modifying a Katana, it’s fair to say Steve is a bloody good bloke to have onside.

Steve’s quiet methodical style can be painful to bear witness to if you’re  a flighty and impulsive sort like I can often be – but the results are always worthwhile. I’ve learnt a lot from Steve, most of it by not listening to him and finding out the hard way why he told me to do something that way in  the first place. In fact, I know we have probably frustrated each other at times in this build.

My open and fullest thanks go to him for his effort in this build, and for listening to me rabbiting on about stuff that probably made his well ordered and methodical head ache with the burden of my nonsense.
