Grumpy 1260 Suzuki Spares

The guys at Grumpy1260 (Chris and Gary) sit atop a pile of used Modern Classic Suzuki spares that is probably visible from space, it’s that big!

Along with that enviable resource, they trade in the many go-faster parts that will get a big 4 stroke Suzuki cracking along – Dyna ignition, APE, Wiseco, Vance and Hines, Cometic, you get the idea.

It doesn’t stop there either – they make their own heavy duty modifications to clutch parts and can get all the engineering associated with tuning a big GSX lump done too, rebores, cam regrinds, crank balancing etc. Then, they can build the engine too – road, race or drag, your call – they’ve done them all, and they’ve been doing them for a very long time indeed.

It was their extensively stocked shelves and a bit of their engineering nouse that we raided for all of the new parts that we fitted to our Katana’s engine.

  • 1170 Wiseco Pistons (and rebore done to their spec)
  • Kent Cam regrind (done to their spec, so secret, even I don’t know it)
  • Heavy duty clutch modification
  • Dyna S ignition
  • Dyna rev limiter
  • Taylor Leads
  • Cometic Gasket set
  • Trac-King clutch plates

So, If you’ve got a GS, GSX or GSXR (I know they’ll happily dirty their hands with the odd period Kawasaki too) if you want to delve into a world of go-faster goodies or just need an ancient part no longer stocked by Suzuki – try Grumpy’s. Top fellas!

  1. I was the first to sell motorcycle things inside the track at Daytona during Spring Cycle Week in 1973. Retailed at tracks in season weekends and sold wholesale to shops during other times. Bought two GSX1000S Katana s in 1982. One still has the showroom miles [475] and the plastic cover on the seat; the other one 5500 miles, only ridden by a middle aged man on warm weekends at: Pocono International, Watkins Glen, Charlotte International, and Summit Point, West Virginia. Often spending over one thousand dollars a weekend racing a 250cc Benelli 4 cylinder, a 450 Suzuki twin, and the original 1000 Katana in three classes each [ stock, superbike, and formula]. Sold the Benelli 4 [had 2, raced one, sold both]. I am 6’2″ … the little Italian red rockets were too small, but racing was fun on the curves! // Once in the rain, I passed all but the 2 fastest experts in one lap, but going down the start straight on the second lap, hit a slick, laid the 1000 down at 140 MPH …. not a scratch nor bruise, but the electrical case was a goner and it would not restart. Still hold the record of 140mph at the track …. without a vehicle! Cheers, C. Bruce Strock, 3175 Church Street, [Springtown, Bucks County] Hellertown, PA 18055 >> phone 267 999 1179
